The City of Cape Town is partnering with the Investec Cape Town Art Fair for a celebration of arts and culture at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from February 16-18.
Featuring over 375 artists from four continents and with over 100 leading galleries participating, the Investec Cape Town Art Fair is the largest one of its kind on the African continent which brings the international art world together.
With 24 events across various venues over three days, the fair will cut across aspects of the artistic experience including high-quality exhibitions, discussions, awards, and tours exploring Cape Town’s vibrant art and culture.
The event’s 11th edition, themed ‘Unbound’, will also focus on emerging, diverse ‘unbound’ voices as a catalyst for the creation of new possibilities.
“Cape Town prides itself as a city for creatives and culture with an abundance of talent in the sector. The City’s objective is to always provide platforms that celebrate this creativity and cultural heritage while also providing platforms for the artists to showcase their work. Our partnership with the Cape Town Art Fair is premised on providing developmental opportunities for those creatives, supporting emerging artists and contributing to the growth of the broader creative industries. The City of Cape Town also welcomes the contribution this event has made to the local economy over the last 11 years and we’re looking forward to a continuation of the partnership in 2024,” said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith.
As part of the collaboration, young artists who are part of the City’s Arts and Culture Emerging Artist Programme will get the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Fair.
They will also be able to network with industry experts, get the inside track on the business side of the art world and access resources to further their careers in the sector.
