Air Tanzania has announced plans to commence flights to Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda. The new routes are expected to facilitate businesses and help in promoting tourism sector in Tanzania.

Ladislaus Matindi, ATCL’s CEO, said: “We are expecting to put on air four new 100%-Air Tanzania-owned aircraft. These are one Bombardier Q 400-8 to service the East African destination of Nairobi, Kenya. Two more Bombardier CS 300 aircraft scheduled for mid-range routes in Africa are expected to enter the skies – these will link Dar es Salaam with other regional routes of Lubumbashi, DRC.”

The new flights were expected to commence before the end of the year, while the carrier remained on course to introduce flights to London, the UAE and Oman over the next two years, added Matindi.

The airline has also indicated its intention to fly to Kigali, Rwanda. Last August, Air Tanzania launched flights to Entebbe, Uganda, and Bujumbura, Burundi.
