According to the Air Zimbabwe website, there will be four weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The tickets start from US$160 one-way and $250 return.
An Air Zimbabwe ticketing agent Tourism Update spoke to at OR Tambo said the on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the flights would depart Harare at 11h30 and arrive in Johannesburg at 13h30. The flight departs JNB for HRE at 14h00, arriving back in the Zimbabwean capital at 15h30.
On Sundays the flight will depart HRE at 14h35 and arrive in Johannesburg at 16h20.
The Johannesburg to Harare flight on Sundays sees the aircraft leave JNB at 16h55 and return to HRE at 18h40.
State-owned newspaper, The Herald, said this new route is linked to Zimbabwe's Open Skies policy which continues to gain momentum. Uganda Airlines announced last week it would be launching a flight to Harare in September.
