AQUASKY has been named the official water sponsor for the 2025 Absa Cape Epic. The Western Cape-based company pioneered South Africa’s first atmospheric water generating plant in 2017. The technology reduces pressure on traditional water sources – an essential advantage in drought-prone regions – by extracting water directly from the air.
The partnership aims to eliminate single-use plastics and promote local innovation while ensuring athletes and spectators have access to environment-friendly hydration solutions.
The event, scheduled for March 16-23, will feature AQUASKY’s mobile bars at key points along the route. These stations will dispense chilled still and sparkling water in reusable, sanitised cups – eliminating an estimated 60 000 plastic bottles.
Brendan Williamson, Managing Director of AQUASKY, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “We are thrilled to bring our vision of sustainable hydration to an event as iconic as the Cape Epic. This partnership demonstrates how local innovation can create real-world solutions reducing environmental impact while supporting South Africa’s economy.”
