The Cape Town and Western Cape Convention Bureau (CTWCCB) will host the annual BestCities client workshop from December 8-10.
BestCities is a global alliance that ensures a consistent level of convention bureau service from all partner cities – Berlin, Cape Town, Chicago, Copenhagen, Dubai, Edinburgh, Houston, Melbourne, Singapore and Vancouver.
The 2014 client workshop will see representatives of 22 international associations from a range of market sectors including pharmaceutical, medical, science, academia and technology come together in Cape Town at the Westin Hotel.
According to BestCities Board Chair, Karen Bolinger: “The client workshop is very much our signature event as it enables clients to gain a unique insight into BestCities as well as the destination. All partners share their top clients’ list and extend a personal invitation to each of the selected association executives.
“The hosting partner showcases their city, conference facilities and business acumen to a handpicked audience and all ten BestCities partners have the chance to build a stronger relationship with meeting planners they may not have had the opportunity to meet on their own,” said Bolinger.
Corne Koch, Head of the CTWCCB, a division of Wesgro, said: “The Cape Town and Western Cape Convention Bureau has successfully secured a number of bids in our current fiscal with eleven bid wins thus far, realising an estimated economic impact of R178 220 000 with an estimated delegate attendance of 13 450.”
Guests will be welcomed on top of Table Mountain before the official schedule gets under way at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The two-day programme includes one-on-one meetings with all ten BestCities convention bureaux followed by the client workshop, which will be delivered by Sherrif Karamat, COO of Professional Convention Management Association in conjunction with Bolinger.
