The 28th annual Cape Town Kite Festival opens on October 9, and visitors can view kites at Melkbosstrand in support of World Mental Health Day on October 10.
Visitors are encouraged to wear green and to bring their own kites, while raising funds for Cape Mental Health – a non-profit organisation providing free mental healthcare services and interventions to those who need it most.
This year’s festival will have an EDUKITE competition, a kite-decorating and kite-making competition for primary school learners from mainstream schools and schools for children with special educational needs, with prizes to be won.
The festival is the oldest kiting event in Africa and has been hosted by Cape Mental Health since 1994.
