Over the last two years, Sense of Oceans has expanded its island footprint to include St Helena, Rodrigues Island, and a physical presence in Madagascar.
According to Martijn Mellaart, COO of Sense of Oceans: “In Madagascar, we are glad to announce the return of the Airlink flights from South Africa. The destination is extremely popular, and Olivier Toboul, who heads up our operations in Madagascar, is very busy signing up new agents.
“The guided tours for the high season are filling up quickly with clients from all corners of the world. We recently hosted our customer Travelhouse from Switzerland, who visited Madagascar with 12 travel agents on an educational tour, which was partially sponsored by Turkish Airlines.
“For Mozambique, it’s business as usual, except we have noticed an increase in the self-drive product, especially in terms of family travel. Mozambique is catching up with South Africa with regard to this sector, in terms of good roads, petrol stations along the routes, mobile network coverage and a large variety of accommodation options.
“This product is mainly possible in the south of Mozambique between Ponta do Ouro and Vilanculos. Not all car-rental companies allow their vehicles in Mozambique, but we at Sense of Oceans take care of this part of the voyage with reliable, and fully comprehensive insurance packages to guarantee a hassle-free and safe journey for our clients. SUV and 4x4 vehicles are the popular cars for these self-drive packages.
“Sense of Oceans is also launching a new self-drive product this year, with itineraries that can be tailor made to suit all budgets and preferences and showcases some of Southern Africa’s most beautiful destinations, including South Africa, Mozambique, Namibia and Botswana.
“The itineraries are suitable for both couples and family travel. Whilst the most popular itineraries are based on camping accommodation, Sense of Oceans can also tailor-make itineraries with only accommodated options or a mixture of camping and accommodation. They can be as relaxed or as adventurous as required, with a range of rental vehicles on offer, from single-cab equipped 4×4 vehicles to spacious and comfortable motor-homes.”
