ONOMO Hotels has announced plans to open new hotels in Kampala and Maputo.
The group recently opened the 109-room ONOMO Hotel Kigali, which includes 10 suites with separate lounge areas and kitchenettes. It is located in Kigali’s Nyarugenge district, a few minutes from the city centre and 9km from the international airport.
Speaking at inauguration, Julien Ruggieri, President of ONOMO Hotels, said: “The hotel sector here is flourishing, positioning Rwanda as a major destination for business tourism. With this project, we are proud to be making our contribution to the development of this high-potential market.”
ONOMO Hotels is a pan-African hotel group that was established in 2009 and is now present in nine countries – Dakar (Senegal); Abidjan (Ivory Coast); Libreville (Gabon); Bamako (Mali); Lomé (Togo); Cape Town, Sandton and Durban (South Africa); Conakry (Guinea); Rabat (Morocco), and Kigali (Rwanda) – with 12 hotels representing 1 200 rooms.
The hotel group is looking at opening more hotels in South Africa, Mozambique and Uganda in the next 18 months, with the aim of operating more than 3 700 rooms by 2022.
