The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) will continue to promote Kenya on the BBC until April in a bid to attract more British tourists to visit.
KTB Chairman, Jimi Kariuki, said Kenya promotions on the BBC started on November 7 and would run until April 1. “We are marketing our country through the BBC to enable us to reach out to potential tourists in the UK. The UK is a key market for us as it’s our second top market after the US.”
Kariuki said KTB had also been promoting Kenya on Al Jazeera since October in a campaign that will end on January 26. “Through promotions on Al Jazeera, we were targeting holidaymakers from the Middle East. We aim to increase tourist flow from markets including the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar.”
The board is also promoting the Live the Magic video on YouTube, raising awareness of Kenya through the video platform. Kariuki said the video was being promoted in the US, the UK, Germany and India as the agency sought to build up tourist arrivals from the four important markets. “Plans are also under way for Kenya Tourism Board to do digital marketing through Google. Through Google we will be able to reach out to potential tourists from across the globe.”
Kariuki said the marketing agency would embark on a six-month online global campaign in February in partnership with Expedia. “Through Expedia’s global online travel platforms, Kenya’s offering will be accessed by millions of people around the world and help draw more tourists to the country.”
International tourist arrivals to Kenya grew by 7.8% to 786 765 between January and October 2017 compared with 729 682 visitors in the same period in 2016.
