Sindabezi Island, owned by the Green Safari group, has introduced a new launch site and route for both safety and comfort so that late arrivals to the island on the Zambezi River are now possible.
Previously, guests had to return before sunset, meaning that those with late flights or night activities in Livingstone or Victoria Falls were affected.
The new site bypasses the old detour through Tongabezi Lodge and takes a direct scenic river cruise to Sindabezi Island from the new downstream private jetty.
Boating staff and guides avoid dry-season shallows and rapids while providing scenery and plenty of birdlife along the way. The boat trip takes up to 10 minutes.
Natasha Parker of Green Safaris said: “Although your journey starts differently, the wonders of Tujatane Trust School and the lush Tongabezi fruit and vegetable garden remain open for exploration. Sindabezi Island guests will now enter through the main entrance of Tujatane instead of through Tongabezi. While all guests will primarily use this new launch site, we’re more than happy to accommodate special requests for departures from Tongabezi.”
When guests arrive at the new launch site, the Sindabezi manager and staff will be there to greet them and accompany them on a cruise to the island.
