Ohorongo Safari Lodge is the original homestead on the reserve and has been converted into a private guest space with five ensuite bungalows, traditionally decorated and kept cool between thatch and tile. Shared outdoor spaces are peaceful and offer comfortable places to relax while listening to the birdlife and admiring the beautifully maintained desert garden.
The lodge nestles in an oasis of trees, surrounded by the expansive acacia thornveld of the reserve. The garden greenery attracts an abundance of birds to the lodge, an added attraction for guests enjoying the peace and quiet of the bungalows.
Situated between Etosha National Park and the Skeleton Coast, Ohorongo is a 40 000-hectare reserve that is home to a vast array of wildlife that includes endangered species such as Black-faced impala, roan and sable. Namibia’s wildlife survives by being resilient and adapting to temperature extremes and very low rainfall. Watching endemic wildlife in this environment is an entirely different experience to that in neighbouring countries, with the strikingly different landscape as a backdrop.
