BON Hotels has appointed Emile Roworth General Manager at BON Hotel Shelley Point.
With 14 years of experience in the industry, Roworth’s career began as a trainee with Protea Hotels where he worked his way up to manage and open Protea properties and various other hotel brands in South Africa and Africa.
After matriculating from Jean Kriel High in 1999, Roworth went on to achieve a Hotel Management Certificate from the Granger Bay Hotel School. During that time he also achieved a Protea Hotel diploma in Hospitality Management Services, as well as attended various courses in food preparation, human resources, finance and service standards.
Mara Plains Camp, Kenya, has been accepted on all standards as a member camp of the International Congress of Relais & Châteaux in Paris.

Tsogo Sun has announced new appointments at Durban’s Garden Court Marine Parade and Garden Court South Beach.
John Aritho, former General Manager at Southern Sun Maharani, has been appointed GM at Garden Court Marine Parade and will lead the hotel’s R107 million refurbishment project. Wayne Smith, former GM at Garden Court Blackrock, will take up the position of GM at Garden Court South Beach.

The work on the new 350-seat conference centre and revamping of the 350 rooms will make it a prime destination both for business and leisure travellers,” said Kenyan-born Aritho. He is also a qualified chef who has worked with the Tsogo Sun hotel group for 19 years. Before joining Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani, he worked in and opened hotels in Mozambique, Seychelles, Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania and Dubai.
With a career spanning more than 15 years, Smith, began his journey at Drakensberg Sun Resort. “I am really excited about the opportunity to head one of the most recognisable and highly frequented hotels on the beachfront,” he said.
Wanjiku Mugo has been appointed Head of Corporate Communication at Kenya Airways.
Mugo is a graduate of Cardiff University where she did a Master’s Degree in Journalism. She started her professional career at the Nation Media Group as a reporter before moving on to the Capital Group as a business journalist/editor.
