Springbok Atlas Tours & Safaris understands the major role that travel designers, such as itself, play in the drive towards responsible tourism, and it is proud to be a Fair Trade Tourism Approved Tour Operator. Demonstrating its commitment to Fair Trade Tourism, Springbok Atlas Tours & Safaris launched a 100% Fair Trade Holiday, which included Cape Town, the Overberg coastline, Kruger Park and Johannesburg. Guests embark on a journey through South Africa while staying at stunning Fair Trade Tourism-accredited properties and taking part in some exciting Fair Trade Tourism-approved day excursions.
Springbok Atlas Tours & Safaris also supports the following foundations and community projects:
Treadright Foundation
An initiative supported by The Travel Corporation’s (TTC) family of brands, the TreadRight Foundation is a not-for-profit foundation working to ensure the environment and communities visited remain vibrant for generations to come. By providing grants to organisations that encourage sustainability in different destinations, it hopes to maintain the natural attractions and unique heritages that define each region.
SizaBantwana Children Benefit Organisation (Mpumalanga)
This is a non-profit organisation that works in the rural communities surrounding Hazyview, Mpumalanga. SizaBantwana has about 400 children, orphaned or made vulnerable as a result of HIV/Aids. Each year a donation is made to SizaBantwana on behalf of top agents.
Community Farm Schools (Barrydale, Western Cape)
The Barrydale Community Farm Schools were built during the 1960s by the farmers in the area for the labourers’ children. These schools are supported through guided community visits and annual Christmas donations.
Damara Village (Namibia)
The Damara Village offers guided tours allowing an insight into today’s way of life of the Damara people; their ancient traditions and beliefs combined with the influence of civilisation. Visits here on the guided tours help support the village.
Rhino Conservation via The Rhino Ride
An initiative via The Rhino Ride has been introduced to support rhino conservation. For each guest booked on a long distance tour, a donation is made to one of the following rhino conservation charities: Chipembere Rhino Foundation and The Next Generation Conservation Trust Namibia.
Learnership Programme
Learners from previously disadvantaged backgrounds are sponsored and mentored on an annual basis.
TCD Trust (Tourism Community Development Trust)
This trust works with a wide variety of causes based in Cape Town, including a crèche, soup kitchen and schools. An annual donation and 5% of Springbok Atlas Cape Town township tours supports this trust.
The Amy Foundation

Make a Difference Leadership Foundation
MAD helps talented scholars gain leadership development through education and mentorship across South Africa.
