The International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT) will host a training workshop on community tourism at this year’s world symposium that will be held at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg, from February 16-19.
The Community Hospitality Entrepreneurship Training Workshop, presented by Diana McIntyre-Pike, President of IIPT Caribbean, will introduce participants to the concept of community tourism, and help them identify unique community assets (heritage, culture, attractions), and ways of building the starting components for setting up their community-based brand and business, by utilising the business model canvas.
Community tourism is a collaborative tool for the social and economic empowerment of communities. The workshop will also highlight the importance, the history and the evolution and organisation of community tourism.
The IIPT symposium aims to identify strategies and best practice in cultivating sustainable and peaceful communities and nations through tourism, culture and sport.
