The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) has joined forces with government stakeholders to ensure that Durban ‘returns to its former glory’ after a series of blows to the tourism industry.
Speaking to the SABC from the sidelines of the Department of Tourism’s Tourism Economic Impact briefing in Sandton on August 6, TBCSA CEO Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa said that revitalising the city’s reputation was crucial in order to facilitate overall tourism growth to South Africa.
Tshivhengwa said that the TBCSA has deployed a team in Durban to address challenges such as the closure of beaches and a lack of investment in tourism sites.
Additional focus areas will include the enhancement of air access and attracting more domestic travellers.
