Update: The image has been changed to depict the restaurant at Satara rest camp.
South African National Parks (SANParks) has appointed Tindlovu – one of the companies that manages restaurants in the KNP – to manage the facilities at Satara, Olifants and Letaba rest camps. The appointment is for six months, on a temporary basis, while the tender process to find new operators is being undertaken.
This comes after a resolution of the dispute between SANParks and the Mugg & Bean and Debonairs Pizza branches operating in the three camps,
Reynold Thakhuli, General Manager of Media, PR and Stakeholder Relations at SANParks, says while the culinary experience on offer will initially be limited, the menus will be improved throughout the six-month period. “In the meantime, guests can rest assured that they will still receive traditional South African cuisine and good service.” Tindlovu has a 3.5 rating on TripAdvisor.
The restaurant facilities at Letaba, Satara and Olifants rest camps will be operational as follows:
- Letaba from December 13
- Satara from December 14 and
- Olifants from December 15
“All our accommodations are equipped with kitchen and braai facilities should visitors to the three rest camps wish to self-cater. We thank you for your patience during this time and we do apologise to our visitors for the current inconvenience that was caused over the last couple of months,” said the SANParks Managing Executive: Tourism Development and Marketing, Hapiloe Sello.
