Tour operators and travel agents in the USA are showing the greatest interest in registering to attend the Africa Travel & Safari Show Online.
Of the 167 early registrants, 45% are from the USA.
Delegates have registered from Germany, the UK and Australia, but with the interest from the United States, the organisers have taken the decision to extend the hours so that the Californian tourism trade can engage with exhibitors and the line-up of speakers.
“We will be extending show hours to better accommodate the US audience: the February 28 show will now run from 12h00 to 20h00 (GMT +2),” said Natalie Cumberlege, show organiser.
The online exhibition connects African travel and tourism product and service suppliers with international trade buyers and SA-based DMCs, with the aim of facilitating business networking, sharing of product and service information, and hosting insightful talks on some of the most pivotal topics in the travel and tourism industry.
Southern & East African Tourism Update is a media partner of the show. This will be the third travel-related online trade expo hosted by the organisers, Online Expos, for the African travel and tourism industry since July.
“While live chat is not as effective as face-to-face meetings and so would not replace events such as Indaba, the massive cost efficiencies for exhibitors and the savings for delegates in terms of time and travel costs, really mean that people who could not afford to attend or exhibit, now can,” said Cumberlege.
