Wilderness Safaris has commenced a rebuild of its King’s Pool Camp in the Linyanti Wildlife Concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. The nine tented suites are due to reopen in mid-June.

Thatched roofs will be consistent throughout the camp to blend in with the surrounds, and the traditional Batswana craft of weaving will be used in a number of architectural details, including the camp’s screen walls, woven rope detail on vertical supports, and balustrades.

“We’ve also carried the basket theme throughout the interiors, and will be embroidering abstract images of baskets on the scatter cushions, hand-painting basket murals on the walls, and using various design elements on the curtains, as well as installing impressive basket-woven chandeliers in the dining room,” said Caline Williams-Wynn, Lead Designer of Artichoke.

The new camp will also be 100% solar-powered, and will use as much existing material from the previous camp as possible to maintain Wilderness’s commitment to its eco-footprint.

Activities at King’s Pool include day and night game drives, walks and barging – ideal for photographing birds and wildlife.
