It is now possible to obtain a tourism business license year-round in Zanzibar, instead of just seasonally
The Zanzibar Commission for Tourism (ZCT) noted in a press statement that the shift to a 12-month license would allow tourism businesses to obtain their licences at any time throughout the year, with subsequent renewals falling on the date of the original issuance.
According to ZCT Executive Secretary, Hafsa Mbamba, the immediate regulation change would simplify the renewal process, eliminate administrative burdens, and allow businesses to operate without interruption.
She said the decision comes as part of the ZCT's ongoing commitment to enhancing operational efficiency, promoting ease of doing business, and accommodating the evolving needs of tourism businesses in Zanzibar.
"We believe that this change will give our valued tourism operators more flexibility, enable them to focus on delivering exceptional experiences to visitors and contribute to the growth of Zanzibar's tourism industry.
“By eliminating the need for simultaneous license renewals and staggering renewal dates throughout the year, we anticipate smoother operations, reduced paperwork, and increased efficiency for all stakeholders involved," Mbamba said.
