Reports of an illegal guide operating in the Kruger National Park have highlighted the concerns about illegal guiding in the industry.
In a recent column, Joleen du Plessis, stresses the importance of ending illegal tourist guiding activities. “To keep this industry well regulated, reliable and professional, attempts are made worldwide to train and register guides to equip them for their important task,” said du Plessis.
Du Plessis also suggests a possible measure that could be implemented to monitor the situation and curb illegal guiding.
