The SA Department of Tourism’s Public Lecture is days away, due to be held on September 18. The lecture is aimed at engaging with tourism stakeholders and academics, to explore ideas and solutions around optimising tourism in South Africa.
Guests are invited to watch the lecture which will be live-streamed by Tourism Update from the Walter Sisulu University (WSU) Mthatha Campus in the Eastern Cape. Guests are invited to register online on Tourism Update from 08h30 to 09h15, with the lecture commencing at 09h15.

09h25 – 09h35: Welcome address by Professor Rob Midgley, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Walter Sisulu University

09h40 – 09h45: Introduction of speaker and panel discussants by the Manale
09h45 – 09h50: Introduction of the Minister of Tourism, Derek Hanekom, by Oscar Mabuyane, MEC of Finance, Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism

10h10 – 10h50: Presentation of the lecture by guest speaker (to be confirmed): Tourism and digital transformation
10h50 -12h00: Panel discussions on experiences, successes, challenges and opportunities presented by digital transformation in tourism.
