Shaun is a tourism fan and is passionate about making an impact on destination tourism. His passion for local tourism has led to his launching of the Tourism Coach initiative. He has written the first business book for tourism entrepreneurs in South Africa. The book provides a practical and easy-to-use book and a set of templates for tourism entrepreneurs on marketing, service and self-leadership. The initiative also includes workshops on creating tourism experiences, authentic tourism service, tourism marketing and tourism SMME development. He was CEO of Knysna Tourism until the end of 2012. Previously he was the Marketing Manager of Sun International’s The Boardwalk. Prior to that, he was the Director of Tourism for Port Elizabeth. Shaun van Eck is the 1999 CTA “SA Tourism Marketer of the Year” and the 2002 IMM “Eastern Cape Marketer of the Year.”
