Tanda Tula Safari Camp in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in South Africa’s Mpumalanga province, announced its reopening after more than a year – the camp closed in March 2022 – following an extensive upgrade and rebuild.
Positioned on the banks of the Nhlaralumi River, Tanda Tula provides views of the surrounding wildlife and natural landscapes.
The camp features nine hybrid off-grid suites, including two family suites.
Each suite features a private deck with an eco-plunge pool, indoor and outdoor showers, and furnishings inspired by the traditional designs of South Africa's Tsonga people, who were the original custodians of the land.
"We are delighted to reveal the new Tanda Tula Safari Camp. We aim to offer guests an immersive and authentic safari experience combining luxury and sustainability. Every aspect, from our solar-powered facilities to our water-wise plunge pools, has been thoughtfully crafted to minimise our ecological impact while providing an unforgettable stay," said co-owner, Don Scott.
Activities include twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks, birdwatching, stargazing, and bush breakfasts.
The central area features a split-level lounge and bar that opens on to decks through sliding doors, offering views of the dry riverbed and the camp's waterhole.
"We have evolved and grown significantly over the years, and this transformation is reflected in the new Tanda Tula safari experience. We are more environmentally conscious, with a reduced ecological footprint, while still maintaining exceptional hospitality and unforgettable wildlife encounters," said co-owner, Nina Scott.
Tanda Tula's commitment to developing a reliable and robust wildlife economy is shared by all as the camp utilises locally sourced suppliers, artisans and materials.
