Lufthansa will serve Nairobi exclusively with wide-body aircraft, effective September 1.
Four weekly flights will be offered, increasing the available capacity on the Frankfurt-Nairobi route.
Flights will initially operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with an Airbus A340-300 in a three-class configuration – 18 business-class seats, a new premium economy cabin seating 19 and 261 economy-class seats. From October 30, the Saturday flight will operate on Friday.
Flights will depart Frankfurt at 11h10 and arrive in Nairobi at 21h15. The return flight will depart Nairobi at 23h20 and arrive in Frankfurt at 05h55 the next day.
“Tourism to Kenya, especially from the German and US markets, continues to increase and we are delighted to once again offer an additional frequency on the route commencing December 12 until through January 22, 2017,” said Tobias Ernst, Regional Manager for Lufthansa in East Africa at a media briefing.
“For the Lufthansa Group [Nairobi] is a gateway to one of the most popular regions this continent offers to tourists and business travellers alike,” said Ernst.
Complementing Lufthansa’s flights, SWISS International Air Lines operates five weekly flights to and from Nairobi.
