CAPE TOWN’s luxurious Le Cascades de Bantry Bay lodge has opened an equally luxurious property next door, The Cascades at 52. Both properties are situated on the slopes of Lion’s Head and overlook the Atlantic Ocean. The new addition has seven suites on four floors, including a two-bedroom suite with a private pool. The style is sleek and modern; maximising sweeping sea views with an expanse of glass and open space in a cool, fashionable setting. The original four-story lodge, Le Cascades de Bantry Bay, has six en-suite rooms, each with a private sundeck overlooking the sea. Two pools cascade down the mountainside between the property’s levels. The décor is Balinese inspired: dark wood, Indian slate terraces, black lined pools, lattice shutters, candle-filled lanterns, ivory parasols and earthy hues, complimented by colonial furniture and a private collection of contemporary paintings and objets d’art. European couple, Luc and Els Deschouwer, owns the Cascades Collection. Els Deschouwer is an experienced restaurateur and chef, and the cuisine at Les Cascades has a strong French influence. The lodge has a luxury, chauffeur-driven car that is available for airport shuttle, taxi service and guided tours.
