This week’s comment relates to an article exploring the viability of a proposal to focus on the domestic market as part of a post-COVID-19 tourism recovery plan.
Owner of Dark Giraffe Marketing, Richard de la Rey, said the following:
“It's the only answer right now. We've been targeting the local market for years with great success. It's interesting to see how many lodges and hotels, who have never targeted the local market, are now trying to do so. Simply discounting your rates is not going to cut it. The domestic market is very price sensitive and will be even more so now. You will need to do your homework if you haven't targeted this market in the past.”
