AfricaStay, in association with Mango, has signed a contract to operate charter flights to Zanzibar, commencing March 12.

The charters, operated with a B737-800, will operate on Tuesdays, with a same-day return in a similar time slot to the Zanzibar flights formerly operated by 1time. The aircraft has capacity for 185 passengers.

Cobus Vermeulen, sales and marketing director for AfricaStay, told Tourism Update that the flights would be well priced and would be cheaper than indirect services and that it would be possible to book flights only. A Saturday-operated flight is also planned over December.

Cobus also emphasised that AfricaStay would put an emphasis on working with the trade and that agents could look forward to special offers, educationals and prizes.
