Durban expanded its summer season campaign, themed ‘Endless Waves of Tranquillity’ to Gauteng this past weekend to kick-start a series of destination promotion roadshows aimed at enticing visitors to explore the city’s tranquil spirit and diverse experiences during the summer holidays.
This past weekend, a variety of activations took place in Gauteng, including the highly popular DSTV Delicious Festival at Kyalami, mall activations, and a presence at the Fourways Farmers Market. Kicking off the weekend, Durban Tourism hosted a trade and media gathering at Lumo Lounge & Living in Ruimsig, Roodepoort, on Friday 20 September. The aim is to ensure that key identified source markets are fully informed about Durban's offerings, while also enabling the trade to effectively package these experiences.
These activations focused on several goals, including promoting and selling Summer Season packages, engaging directly with consumers to raise awareness of ‘Destination Durban,’ and educating them about the variety of attractions the city has to offer.
“Durban Tourism is dedicated to showcasing local attractions to encourage visitors to discover more than just our beautiful beaches. Thrilling activities, such as horse riding at Umgababa Beach, diving with ScubaCo, fun at Splash Water World, deep sea fishing with Fillet Deep Sea Fishing, and African Watersports Aliwal, await those who come,” said eThkewini Municipality Executive Mayor Cyril Xaba.
This month, Durban will serve as the hub for maritime innovation and sustainability as it hosts the inaugural Blue Economy Week from September 24-28. The event underscores the city’s commitment to tapping into the potential of its Blue Economy to attract and enhance international gatherings.
