A campaign dedicated to providing 42 200 pairs of school shoes to children in need across Cape Town is led by Eddie Andrews, Deputy Mayor of Cape Town. In a show of commitment, Andrews ran 42.2km in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on October 20, hoping to inspire widespread participation.
The “Soles for Souls” campaign aims to ensure that no child in Cape Town goes without proper footwear. By partnering with the Santa Shoebox Project, which provides gifts to children in need, and GivenGain, an online fundraising platform, the campaign aims to make a lasting impact in local communities, including those supported through the Mayoral Urban Regeneration Programme.
