Mozambique’s national airline, Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM), will suspend direct flights between Maputo and Cape Town from April 8 as part of its business restructuring plan.
The decision, approved by the board of directors, aims to optimise operations and improve management efficiency. The airline is shifting its focus towards domestic destinations while maintaining its key regional route between Maputo and Johannesburg.
Passengers with confirmed bookings after April 8 are being contacted with alternative travel arrangements. Those unable to travel due to the route suspension are eligible for refunds.
The airline has also indicated that it could resume international operations in future should conditions allow.
