The Second Regional Forum on Gastronomy Tourism for Africa will take place in Arusha, Tanzania, from April 23-25. Organised by Tanzania and UN Tourism in partnership with the Basque Culinary Center, the event aims to position gastronomy tourism as a key driver of sustainable development and economic growth across the continent.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural edition in Zimbabwe, the forum will bring together policymakers, chefs, industry experts and entrepreneurs to discuss strategies for strengthening Africa’s tourism competitiveness through its diverse culinary traditions. Discussions will focus on linking gastronomy tourism with cultural heritage, supporting local food systems and integrating small-scale producers into the tourism sector.
The forum will explore how food tourism can promote entrepreneurship, strengthen local economies and enhance Africa’s positioning in the global gastronomy sector. Live demonstrations, case studies and panel discussions will highlight the continent’s culinary assets and their potential to attract international travellers.
