Set to reopen next month, the Desert & Delta Safaris Xugana Island Lodge in Botswana’s Okavango Delta has released new design renders, providing a first look at the upgraded facilities and structural enhancements.
Planned upgrades:
- The swimming pool will be repositioned for uninterrupted views of the Okavango Delta.
- A new overwater fire deck will extend beyond the island, offering a unique vantage point over the water.
- The curio shop, reception and dining areas will be integrated into multi-level decks for elevated viewing.
- Two additional guest rooms and a family suite will be introduced in a previously undeveloped area.
Interior design and sustainability
The new lodge design will reflect the colours of the lagoon, blending blue hues with natural textures. Guest rooms will feature indoor showers, double vanities and private seating areas positioned for maximum privacy and Okavango Delta views.
The redevelopment will also introduce a state-of-the-art off-grid power system in line with Desert & Delta Safaris’ commitment to environmental sustainability. The project prioritises lightweight, durable materials to reduce transportation impact.
Safari activities
Upon reopening, the lodge will continue to offer boating, fishing, mokoro excursions and nature walks led by experienced guides.
