VISITORS to the Boulders Penguin Colony on the Cape Peninsula can now help save the endangered African Penguin by sponsoring specially designed penguin nest boxes.
African Penguin numbers have declined dramatically in recent years to 120 000 birds. The nest boxes will protect the penguin eggs from predators and juveniles from heat exhaustion.
iKapa Honorary Rangers have supplied 100 nesting boxes, which can be sponsored for R200 per box. A map of the numbered boxes with sponsors’ names will be displayed at Boulders. Sponsors will also receive a “Friends of SANParks” certificate acknowledging their contribution to conservation.
