Last week, Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta laid the foundation for the Pinnacle Tower, which at 300 metres tall upon completion will be Africa’s tallest building and also house the Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill. Hilton has indicated that it would open the new hotel in 2020.
The Pinnacle Tower sits on a two-acre plot and consists of two towers: the 45 storey Hilton Hotel, offering 225 rooms, and the 70 storey mixed used wing, which will include a residential, retail and entertainment complex, as well as an adjacent office tower.
Both the hotel and the serviced apartments will be managed by Hilton.
The Ksh20.6 billion ($200 million) project is a joint venture between Jabavu Village, the real estate investment arm of the Hass Petroleum Group, and Dubai based investment group firm, White Lotus Group.
“We are targeting the middle and high-end luxury hospitality market, said Hass Group Chairman, Abdinasir Ali Hassan. “Nairobi is becoming a regional hub and the expatriates coming to work here require these residences for short stay.”
Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill’s facilities include an executive lounge and five food and beverage outlets, including a poolside bar, speciality smokehouse and grill restaurant.
Hilton Nairobi Upper Hill will be situated 16km from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, on Upper Hill Road in Nairobi.
