A new chapter began yesterday (February 1) when one of the Western Cape winelands’ most iconic hotels, The Lord Charles, opened its doors.
The hotel closed in August 2020 after the Spanish-based NH Hotel Group said it would not renew the contract.
The new owner-managed organisational structure allows for flexibility in managing the day-to-day operations as well as making the important decisions needed to ensure the success of the hotel beyond the next few decades.
A spokesperson for the hotel said the experienced team were committed to supporting the local community, including sourcing fresh produce (where possible) from local suppliers, and hiring staff from the area.
The hotel – which has been operating since 1988 – initially made its mark as an events and conferencing centre but has been repositioned to maximise its leisure offering as well, following an extensive refurbishment and facilities upgrade.
This ranged from interior design to landscaping, with the tennis courts, wedding venue and all other recreational facilities also getting a facelift.
La Vigna at the Lord Charles is known for its exceptional contemporary dining experience. Both hotel guests and members of the public can expect to be treated to a seasonal menu of locally sourced produce, from light lunches to a full three-course dinner menu.
