Following the successful 2021 event, the 2022 Impact Imbizo is being held in Cape Town at The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa on October 12 and 13 this week.
The organisers of the original event – Martina Bath and Nicole Tunmer of The Liz McGrath Collection and Lindie Strauss from NAC Helicopters & Private Air Charter – have joined resources with Rudi Wagenaar at On-Demand Hospitality Solutions Inc. (a division of Sustainable Luxury) to bring to light the 2022 Impact Imbizo “where every minute makes a difference”.
By combining their collective resources, the exhibitors have invited their key Cape Town clients from across the corporate and luxury leisure market segments to this year's Imbizo where Cape Town-based travel buyers can register their attendance for October 12 or 13 starting at either 09h00 or 13h00 HERE.
Wagenaar told Tourism Update the organisers wanted to place the focus on giving back, and acknowledge the challenges faced by the tourism industry since the onset of the global pandemic. “We felt the need to celebrate our clients but did not simply want to hand out lucky prize vouchers, and create real change for the buyers who attend the Imbizo, acknowledge their investment in man hours and to spotlight the various projects that UthandoSA supports as a vehicle for change (discover the various projects HERE).
About 160 people have already registered for the event. Exhibitors this year include Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa, The Marine, Matetsi Victoria Falls, Shamwari Game Reserve, NAC Helicopters & Private Air Charter, Kruger Shalati – The Train on the Bridge, Zambezi Queen Collection, Hazendal Wine Estate, Turbine Boutique Hotel & Spa, Crossings Lodges, The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa, The Plettenberg, Mhondoro Safari Lodge & Villa, Walkersons Hotel & Spa, Mandela Sanctuary, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve and WOLF-dmc.
“The impact of the Imbizo will extend well beyond the Cape Town event and we would like to invite local DMCs from across South Africa to help us sell the Impact vouchers donated by the suppliers as part of a holiday itinerary. The nett contracted rate will be directly paid to UthandoSA.org while the DMCs retain their commissions,” noted Wagenaar.
Interested tour operators and travel professionals in South Africa can contact rudi@sustainableluxury.africa for details on how to enrol in the initiative and help sell the vouchers.
“By bringing buyers and suppliers together in-person, every minute invested in these meetings is celebrated and recognised in our mutual acknowledgment of the funds raised,” said Wagenaar.
