The Kempinski Hotel Group has announced that it will open properties in three African countries this year and is looking at projects in five more, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The luxury hotel group is adding locations in Ghana, Angola and Kenya.
According to Kempinski President and CEO, Reto Wittwer: “Our focus is in Nairobi as the gateway to the sub-Saharan region as we seek to unlock opportunities. We are also looking at opportunities in Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo.”
The Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana’s capital is scheduled to open by the end of the year.
In Kenya, the hotel group has partnered with developers Simba Hospitality to open the 202-room Villa Rosa Kempinski in Nairobi and the Olare Mara Kempinski tented camp in the Masai Mara game reserve.
Simba Hospitality, which is a subsidiary of Simba Corporation, will spend $35million in the construction of the two facilities.
