Mantis St Helena will reopen on October 15 after being closed since 2020 due to travel restrictions. The hotel, which was built in 1774, is in St Helena’s capital, Jamestown.
It offers 24-hour concierge services and has 30 guestrooms, eight in the restored wing of the building and 22 in the newly built wing.
Activities at the hotel include ‘Diving in the South Atlantic’, where guests can explore a variety of dive habitats and shipwrecks; swimming with whale sharks; and watching Humpback whales. ‘A ramblers’ paradise’ offers a diverse selection of walking routes, and a coffee tour offers a hands-on experience.
Airlink resumed fortnightly flights between Johannesburg and Jamestown in March and is planning to increase frequencies to a weekly service on the same date as the hotel’s reopening.
CEO of the Mantis Collection, Paul Gardiner, said: “We are thrilled that international travellers will once again have the opportunity to explore the many wonders of this remote outpost.”
