The Midmar Dam Resort in the KZN Midlands is currently undergoing a multimillion-rand refurbishment by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.
This was revealed by the KZN Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Head of Department, Nhlakanipho Nkontwana, at the KZN Tourism Month Celebrations held at the Midmar Dam Resort in Howick.
Nkontwana said the upgrades would transform the resort into a multi-purpose destination, that offered, in addition to its current activities, cycle hire, jet skis, kayaking, inflatables, boat cruises and kiddies’ play area, reports IOL.
Musa Mntambo, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Communications Manager, told Travel News that the project started in October 2021, and was expected to be complete in November next year. The aim of the refurbishments is to modernise the resort to attract more tourists.
“The refurbishment is of the existing chalets. The exterior and interior finishes will be modernised and new furniture will be placed, bringing comfort to guests. We want it to be more attractive to both local and international tourists,” Mntambo said.
