While working in the Okavango Delta in Botswana, I once welcomed a tour group to our campsite and advised them what to expect on their tour into the Delta, including the do’s and don’ts, etc…
While explaining to the group that it was perfectly safe to swim in certain areas of the Delta which had been checked for hippos and crocodiles by the guide, I was asked by an elderly gentleman if we “added chlorine to the water in the Okavango Delta to keep it clean”.
Needless to say, it was impossible to keep a straight face, especially because he was completely serious.
