The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is part of the South African Tourism-led annual Multi-City Roadshows in India from February 11-16.
The roadshow covers five cities in India – Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai. A total of 2 009 agents and buyers from India and the Middle East confirmed their participation in this year’s city-wide roadshows.
India is one of the original member countries of the BRICS economic trade bloc, and has a population of more than 1.4 billion.
“Mpumalanga has seen an increase in international arrivals from India and the Middle East in the past two years. We are in the marketing offensive to exponentially increase international tourist arrivals in Mpumalanga,” says MTPA CEO, Mduduzi Vilakazi.
The MTPA assisted two SMEs to join the roadshow – Mbombela Experience Tours & Safaris and Yethu Tours & Safari. Team Mpumalanga will be meeting more than 250 buyers per city robustly marketing the province as a destination of choice.
The MTPA team is led by Director, Noxolo Oyiya, from the MTPA Board of Directors, and is accompanied by Vilakazi and Acting Executive Manager of Tourism, Kholofelo Nkambule.
“We anticipate to lobby investors and philanthropists to invest in the eco-tourism space in our province, sell our province for international conferencing and event and establish a trade network with India travel agents and MICE planners,” concludes Vilakazi.
