The appointments bring a wealth of experience from top-tier global hospitality brands, positioning North Island to continue its legacy as a leader in luxury island retreats.
Mark Sterner has been appointed General Manager of North Island. Sterner brings over a decade of experience as a general manager, most recently as Cluster General Manager at Red Sea Global in Saudi Arabia. His impressive career includes leadership roles at renowned properties under the Viceroy Hotel Group such as Yas in Abu Dhabi, Vagaru Island in the Maldives and Sugar Beach in St Lucia. Sterner’s operational expertise is bolstered by his tenure at iconic establishments like The Carlyle Hotel in New York, Rosewood Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands and Sandy Lane in Barbados. His diverse background in luxury hospitality management will be pivotal in enhancing North Island's guest experience and operational excellence.
Appointing Lisette R Lablache as Director of Human Resources is a strategic move to enrich North Island’s team culture. With 25 years of experience in human resources, including 17 years in the hospitality industry, Lablache has a track record of fostering high-performance teams in luxury environments. Her past roles include key positions at the four-star Le Domaine de la Réserve on Praslin, the five-star Maia Luxury Resort and Fregate Island Private. Lablache was most recently involved in the pre-opening phase of Laila Resort, a Marriott Bonvoy property, where she contributed to establishing a strong organisational foundation.
Anna Luttsau has been appointed Sales and Marketing Director, bringing a strategic vision for driving North Island’s commercial success. Luttsau’s experience includes reimagining marketing strategies at Barceló Mussanah Resort in Oman and senior sales and marketing roles in the Middle East and Indian Ocean regions. Her work at Fairmont Maldives Sirru Fen Fushi and Jumeirah Vittaveli Maldives equipped her with the expertise to elevate North Island’s market presence and attract discerning travellers seeking exclusive experiences.
Rounding out the leadership team is Brooke Berlin as Sales Representative for North America. Berlin is a valuable addition to the team with her journalism qualification from Syracuse University’s SI Newhouse School of Public Communications and passion for travel and conservation. With travel experience across 71 countries, including 25 in Africa, Berlin is committed to promoting North Island as a premier destination that balances luxury with environmental stewardship.
