Port Owen Marina in Velddrif, along South Africa’s West Coast, has completed an extensive refurb.
The marina, managed by First Group, now has a modernised reception area with a coffee shop, as well as an on-site laundry room to cater for accommodation options that do not feature their own washing machine. Also new is the La Vita Spa, offering a range of wellness treatments, as well as a double treatment room to cater for couples. There is also a sauna, Jacuzzi and nail salon.
Johann Jordaan, Services and Resorts Director at First Group explains: “Catering for the kids has always been a priority, so we made sure we ticked all the right boxes with a state-of-the-art children’s entertainment room featuring the latest PS4 and Xbox gaming consoles as well as an outside pool table.”
Port Owen Marina boasts 33 self-catering apartments and chalets on the banks of the marina, most of which can access a jetty. Each chalet has a balcony or terrace with braai (BBQ) facilities and views of the marina. The marina also has a playground and open-air heated swimming pool. Guest activities include sailing, boating and fishing.
Jordaan says the refurb is in line with market research: “We are constantly evaluating the needs of our guests and searching for ways to enhance their vacation. Our focus was therefore on offering more children’s entertainment to ensure that we keep family vacations at the heart of our hospitality.”
