Kananga Special Tented Camp, Seronera, in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, has announced that the seasonal camp will now be open all year.
The camp previously closed between January 7 and April 30, however Gillian Miller, Kananga Marketing Manager, confirmed with Tourism Update that the camp would now remain open year round.
Miller explains: “We recently received a lot of enquiries for those dates, as there is still a lot of wildlife around in our area during these months. So we wished to offer guests the opportunity to visit the camp whenever it’s convenient for them. Our other camp in the Maasai Mara – Julia’s Camp – has always been open all year, so it was the obvious next step for us.”
Hidden in an enclave at the foot of the Banagi Hills, the camp overlooks a savannah dotted with East African thorn trees.
The camp comprises two types of tents, the Classic Tent and the VIP Tent, divided into three separate camps, so different groups can be hosted in each separately. In addition, each camp has its own mess tent for relaxation and dining.
In total, Miller says there are 26 tents, four of which are VIP. Each Classic Tent features en-suite bathrooms with chemical toilets, twin beds, a bucket shower, mosquito nets, wooden furniture, private verandah, luggage rack, and ambient LED reading lights provided by the camp’s solar energy facility.
The VIP Tents have conventional flushing toilets and are more spacious, says Miller.
Kananga provides full-board tented accommodation, with a chef and professional staff who attend to guests various requirements. All transfer and game drives are undertaken in specially equipped land cruisers.
