Set to be a regular sight plying the Zambezi at sunset this year is The Victoria, which took to the water in September last year as the first upmarket cruise in both Victoria Falls and Livingstone that is able to safely navigate the lower part of the river and the body of islands at the entrance to the Falls.
This, says Megan Conn, Marketing and Creative Editor of Bushtracks Africa, which operates the vessel, is a section of the Zambezi that competitor cruises are unable to access due to the shallow waters and proximity to the Falls.
The jet-propelled boat takes a maximum of 20 people and has on board a chef from the Victoria Falls Hotel to prepare sushi and canapés to be enjoyed with drinks as guests view game and bird watch – both game (including elephants) and birds are prolific under the spray of the Falls.
Rates include transfers from all major hotels and lodges in the town of Victoria Falls to the jetty site, two-and-a-half hours on the river sailing downstream, highly-trained guidance, full bar and gourmet snacks.
The Victoria is the third vessel in the Bushtracks Africa fleet, which also includes The Cormorant and The Darter.
