Following the success of Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! in Cape Town, the hotel giant is expanding this contemporary urban hotel concept with the planned opening of a second property next year in Johannesburg’s trendy Melrose Arch precinct.

The new hotel will be known as Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! - Melrose
Arch. Protea Hotels group marketing and revenue director, Danny Bryer, says: “We are extremely proud of what we have achieved with Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! in Cape Town. Its uniqueness has been talked about around the world and it made sense to expand the hip and stylish Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! concept into Melrose Arch, which is probably the most trendy business and leisure hub in the province.”
 
The hallmarks of the three-star, 197-room Protea Hotel Fire & Ice! - Melrose Arch will be fashionable design and décor, excellent music, television channel mixes and latest-trend bar and restaurant services. It will have its own restaurant and a street level deli, while the precinct offers guests a choice of other eateries.  There will be four multi-functional conference rooms, four meeting rooms and a business centre. Like its Cape Town counterpart, the hotel will offer three-star rates but service levels and features normally associated with a higher star grading.
