South African Tourism is setting out on its second annual roadshow to the Nordic region from October 17-26, visiting Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo.
Sthembiso Dlamini, SA Tourism COO said: “When we embarked on our first roadshow to the Nordic region last year we gained some key learnings, including the fact that the trade in this region has limited knowledge of what to sell.” Dlamini added that the aim of this roadshow was to educate the trade in the Nordic region on packaging South Africa for their clients.
The organisation is applying a new model to applications for roadshows this year, ensuring a geographical spread of the products on show. SA Tourism will take ‘networks’ of South African products on the roadshow that incorporate products from across all nine provinces. The products will then be grouped in accordance with key experiences that SA Tourism has identified as marketable. These are Active Adventure, City Lifestyle, Coastal Beach, Cultural Roots, Scenic Outdoors and Wildlife Safari.
Dlamini explains: “Partnerships are key to us at SA Tourism and we are looking forward to collaborating with the various tourism business owners so that we can showcase the variety and authenticity of our quality South African experiences.”
Interested products should apply as a network consisting of a transport provider, experiences or activities, accommodation and any other offerings that links to the network. Suppliers can also apply individually and SA Tourism will group relevant products together, however completed networks are encouraged to apply for increased chance of selection. Networks must have between four and six suppliers and must include at least two small, medium and micro-sized enterprises. SA Tourism is planning on including between six and nine networks on this roadshow.
The roadshow will cost €1 600 per person and includes accommodation and transfers on workshops days. A discount is being offered to completed networks.
