Cape Town has been chosen as the world’s top tourist city for the seventh time in the 2019 Telegraph Awards.

With over 39 000 Telegraph readers casting their votes for their favourite holiday destination, Cape Town trumped Vancouver who came in second as well as Kyoto, Japan in third place.

“The fact that thousands of travellers have voted Cape Town as the best city to visit is a result of the hard work delivered by the City’s Place Marketing team and our destination marketing partner, Cape Town Tourism,” says Alderman James Vos, Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Opportunities and Asset Management.
