Two brand-new luxury tented safari properties, Sungani Lodge and Kulandila Camp, are set to open in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia.
According to Sungani’s Marketing and Reservations Manager, Jordan Davy, both properties will open on May 15 next year.
Sungani Lodge is situated on the edge of a lagoon sheltered by indigenous trees. The entire lodge is built on elevated decking. The camp has seven luxury guest tents each with a private deck and plunge pool.
The rooms are en-suite with indoor and outdoor bathrooms and showers. Sungani Lodge is air conditioned with ceiling fans, mosquito nets, safe, mini-bar, complimentary WI-FI among others and the lodge is wheel-chair friendly. The guests’ tents are set atop polished concrete floors.
The main area of the lodge has a variety of living spaces and a swimming pool. There is a library area, which provides a space to make use of the charging points, and a curio shop.
On the banks of the Luangwa River
At Kulandila Camp, the camp is situated on the banks of the Luangwa River and backs onto a lagoon. The open-plan main area faces the Luangwa River. There is an adjoining swimming pool and viewing decks with views of the river.
Kulandila has four elevated tents linked by pathways. The traditional safari style tents are set on a wooden platform with an adjoining veranda. The camp has an indoor bathroom and outdoor bath-with-a-view as well as mosquito nets among other amenities. Each tent is made up of single beds, which are combined to form a king configuration and can easily be separated to form twin beds.
Sungani Lodge and Kulandila Camp are very remote and are only accessible by flight transfer from Mfuwe International Airport to the Sungani airstrip which is approximately a 20 minutes flight.
The Davy Family owns and manages both properties.
