This note comes with much heartfelt support from the Angama family. Our beloved world of travel as we know it has turned topsy turvy in a matter of weeks, actually days.
Yesterday President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that his government is suspending travel for all persons coming into Kenya from any country with reported Covid-19 cases. This will remain in effect for the next 30 days, or as updated by the Kenyan National Emergency Response Committee.
Taking this decision into account, Angama Mara is taking the unprecedented step of closing with immediate effect, and will reopen on the 1st of May 2020.
This decision was made in support of the Kenyan government’s decisive action to protect its citizens.
With regards to future bookings:
- Bookings due to travel in the next six weeks will be honoured for travel within the next 12 months, with no change fee or charge if travelling off-peak
- Normal trading terms will continue to apply for bookings from 1st of May
- Provisional hold extended to two-weeks for all new bookings
As the situation is fluid we will continue to evaluate as the circumstances change, and will not hesitate to make similarly decisive decisions in future should they be required.
These are unprecedented times, and Angama is doing all it can to look after its trade partners, staff, guests and community stakeholders, in order to ensure that it emerges stronger than ever. Please rest assured that as a stand-alone, family-run business Angama is well prepared to weather this storm.
Our thoughts are very much with you as you tackle the mountain of daily challenges of rearranging your clients’ travel plans.
